As with many things, LittleSomething.com began as an idea. Mark Helsel, a busy dad and entrepreneur, realized it didn’t take a lot to convey a simple, meaningful message to another person. But while a small thoughtful act (or a note in the mail, or a little package) is theoretically not complicated, he still found himself missing opportunity after opportunity to follow up with others or encourage them.

As a result, the idea of LittleSomething.com was born. Mark, already the co-owner of a successful online company with his business partner David Glickman, had his team prepare a prototype system in 2004. In 2006, Mark and Dave, along with their longtime Operations Director, Matt Garber, began planning to develop a new version of LittleSomething.com. The initial software planning phase began in earnest in mid 2007 and the website was developed aggressively through most of early 2008. It was officially launched on July 2, 2008 in “beta” phase.


LittleSomething.com is owned by Mark Helsel, David Glickman, and Matt Garber. The team behind LittleSomething.com is made up of programmers, graphic designers, customer service representatives, and fulfillment professionals. The core LittleSomething.com team is located in downtown Altoona in the heart of the beautiful Allegheny Mountains in west-central Pennsylvania.

Mark Helsel is a native of Altoona, PA and attended Mercer College where he played baseball. After college, he spent nearly a decade in direct sales before launching Virtual Office Systems with David Glickman nearly 10 years ago. Mark is an avid outdoorsman and owns a log home near the world famous Horseshoe Curve west of Altoona. Mark enjoys spending time with his wife, Dotty, and three children, Christian, Lexi, and Zack.

Originally from Philadelphia, David Glickman moved to State College, PA in his late teens where he established his first business – a restaurant selling Philly cheese steaks. Eventually he joined the Kirby Corporation where he became an international speaker and sales trainer. In addition to his other business ventures (including Virtual Office Systems), Dave co-founded Apex Global Fulfillment with Mark Helsel in 2006. Dave and his wife Ginny have one grown son, Chase.

Matt Garber is also a native of Altoona, PA and attended Grove City College. After serving in youth ministry out of college, Matt joined the Virtual Office Systems team as their first full time customer support representative in the early days of the company. Since then, he has served as Communications Director and Director of Operations. He has co-founded four businesses, all of which put technology to practical use. Matt and his wife, Christina, reside in Altoona with their three young children, ages 5, 2, and 1.
